Japan, which at that time was led by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, immediately announced that their country had been attacked by the Japanese feudal lords (Daimyo).

Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who did not expect that Javanese troops had landed in Kyushu, ordered his generals to prepare an effective defense strategy to keep Majapahit from returning to Java.

The first Javanese attack was faced by the Shimazu, Otomo, and Tachibana clans. In that battle, the leader of the Shimazu clan, Shimazu Yoshihisa was killed by a rifle used by troops from Tulungagung. The gun was named Bedil Tulungagung, which was later used by the Turkish troops when they invaded Austria. The Javanese troops also invaded deeper into Japanese territory.

Hideyoshi panicked and sent all the samurai troops to the south of Japan. This strategy succeeded in pressing Majapahit for a while.

But unexpectedly, the Kutai troops who were then a vassal kingdom of Majapahit invaded Tōhoku from the island now known as Hokkaido, assisted by the indigenous Ainu tribe. This was followed by the invasion of the troops of Korea, China, Brunei, and Demak which had become Majapahit vassals from the provinces of Owari and Mikawa. Majapahit allies, the Portuguese also took part in this invasion.

In the battle outside the city of Kyoto, Toyotomi also committed suicide by seppuku tradition. After taking control of Kyoto, the Emperor of Japan announced that Japan was now a vassal state of Majapahit. This good news was warmly welcomed in Java, even the Majapahit colonies on the west coast of the Bambangan continent and the Jokoagung continent. After this invasion, Majapahit officials planned an invasion of France through the continent of Bambangan.
